My work comes from a lot of the experiences I’ve had and emotions I’ve felt, just as anyone else’s probably do. I base a multitude of my work on sensations I feel like sadness or joy, but also more complicated emotions like being content when I watch my favorite movies or read my favorite books. Most recently my work has been inspired by doodling and layering. I’ve also been very invested in painting and illustration, and I’m trying to expand my horizon on those two fronts even further. Some goals of mine are to fully develop my own unique style for my art, since I don’t believe that I’ve yet discovered it to its fullest potential.
A process that I’ve found to work profoundly well in art is the method of combining ideas. I do this with writing as well; if I’m having trouble with a singular idea, mashing two things together to create something new and different that keeps my creative process moving and evolving. Recently I’ve taken to trying to link my writing ideas with my art ideas as well.
I’ve created art since I was a little girl--it’s always something I’ve enjoyed, and it’s incredibly interesting to see how my artistic ideas and the way I think has evolved and changed. I’ve become more organized with my thoughts, I think, but also disorganized enough to have numerous amount of ideas floating around in my brain that could eventually be made into some form of art. I’m always thinking and creating characters and worlds in my head. When people see my work, I hope that they see the creative process and effort that goes into it, and how much energy and care that is put into each aspect. I hope they can see the enjoyment I derive from it, and the emotions I felt when creating each piece.
